Sweeeeeeet!

The Christmas tradition of "real" caramel making is alive and well in the Anderson home.  Christmas is not the same if a batch (or three) of Grandma Neen's caramels is not made.
Arline taught me this delight before she passed away and I will forever be grateful for
this lost art which she passed to me.
She also taught me the the cherry chocolate making skills (see last blog).
Our delicious wrapped caramels.
See the stocking?  Erika made that for Tyler with no pattern...what a talent.

This is a great recipe for Caramel Bugles.  Usually I use Bugles but this time I tried "Pirate Booty"  or corn puffs.  It is really delicious.  Here's the recipe:
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup light Karo syrup
2 cubes butter
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Mix and stir constantly on medium until temperature reaches soft ball stage.  Pour over bugles (or corn puffs) and mix together.

DELICIOUS!
Terry loves it!  And ME!

STOP. IT. RIGHT. NOW!!! I'm going crazy. Here's an idea - how about you package up some of those caramels, that mistletoe, you, Dad, Melissa, Erika, Tyler, and everyone else that is related to me that lives in Utah and ship yourselves to Texas? What do you think?

Love the picture of the weekish! Don't you just love that goofy smile? I have no idea where she gets it.

So, it's Amy here...Emily and Lizzy's mama. I found you through Mallory Bouchard/Bjorklund's blog. Strange, but you don't know how happy this makes me. I just learned of your "mess" yesterday from Emily. I wish I had known. I wish we could have come to visit you. I'm so glad you are on the road to recovery though. You are a wonderful woman and a wonderful teacher. The best. Hope you don't mind me peeking here every now and again for updates! :)
